Why can't other animals call rabbits "cute"?

“Cute” is not the problem. It becomes one when it is repeated— assigned, fixed, and expected. What begins as a compliment slowly turns into a framework.

In Zootopia, Judy’s ambition disrupts expectation. But a simple “you’re cute” pulls her back into place, compressing complexity into something small, soft, and non-threatening. What sounds like praise can also be a form of containment.

“Cuteness,” in this sense, is not neutral. It can function as a quiet system— shaping how certain bodies are seen, and how far they are allowed to go.
It simplifies. It softens. It redirects power.
