Akane Fukuhara
Filmmaker
Paris, France

Art is one way a life becomes legible. Through form, it holds what experience alone cannot fully say.

About the Artist
Born in Japan, Akane Fukuhara worked in the commercial film industry in Japan as a production assistant, and also as a translator and interpreter for a French documentary production. She studied at Tokyo University of Foreign Studies, where she learned French and developed an interest in world cultures and cross-cultural exchange.
Alongside her university studies, she studied filmmaking at Eiga Bigakkou in Tokyo, where she began directing short films. Her work explores the boundaries between documentary and fiction, the personal and the universal, often through multicultural perspectives.
A lifelong cinephile and trilingual filmmaker, she is currently pursuing a master’s degree at Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne University while continuing to develop her cinematic voice and build an international career in filmmaking.
