Vocal Artist

Muriel Louveau is a French composer, performance artist and vocalist from Brittany. She describes her work as “medieval contemporary,” drawing inspiration from ancient and cross-cultural musical traditions. Through extended vocal techniques and an invented language, she creates a unique sonic vocabulary where voice, poetry and imagination converge. Her interdisciplinary practice spans music, theater, poetry and performance, exploring the voice as a space between past and present, language and abstraction. She has presented her work internationally in Europe and the United States at venues and festivals including BAM’s Next Wave Festival, National Sawdust, Le Poisson Rouge, Galapagos Art Space, The Flea Theater, Artpark, and Peabody Conservatory in the United States, as well as Lille3000 (France), SKIF Festival (Russia), and French Spring Festival (Latvia). She was an Artist-in-Residence at Artpark (2022–2023) and a guest artist in residence at the Peabody Institute’s Dance Department (2025). Alongside her artistic work, Louveau leads vocal workshops and develops educational projects exploring voice, listening and creative expression.
