Zhang Shuo is an emerging stage and lighting designer based in China. A graduate of the Beijing Dance Academy, he currently works with the China National Opera and Dance Drama Theater. His practice focuses on integrating spatial environment and installation art for strong visual communication, often drawing inspiration from Western classical oil painting while combining it with contemporary technology and a refined, nature oriented aesthetic. His lighting installation “Confinement · Time · Asynchrony” was selected for the New Designer section of the 4th China Stage Art Exhibition, where he received the New Designer Award.
