A Heavy Parting

Theme Dedicate To: This work is dedicated to a friend who is ill, and to those we could not return to.
A Heavy Parting was initially inspired by the condition of a close friend and the quiet proximity of illness, where death feels both silent and overwhelming. In this space, the body remains while something intangible seems to withdraw, leaving a sense of lightness and suspension.
The work also emerges from a prolonged experience of distance — four years spent away from home — during which absence became irreversible. Time continues, but relationships do not remain unchanged. What is missed cannot be restored, and no one stays in the same place.
Within this condition, parting is no longer a single moment but a slow accumulation. Leaving happens without announcement, and separation becomes a state rather than an event.
The choreography moves against this heaviness. The body becomes light, almost feather-like, as if resisting gravity. Soft, suspended movements are interrupted by trembling and repetitive gestures, especially through the hands — reaching, hesitating, worshipping, failing to hold.
Parting is heavy. Leaving is silent. This work remains with the impossibility of return, and with the quiet attempt to live alongside absence.
