This is a dirt path you cannot find on any map, just outside the north wall of the Value Factory at Shekou Port in Shenzhen. Commuters, construction workers, and travelers discovered it as a shortcut to Zuopaotai East Station on Metro Line 12. As more and more people climbed over the wall, their footsteps carved this track into the ground, proving that “there was originally no road, but as people kept walking, it became one.”

A back street that exists in a narrow gap, like the space between the little toe and a shoe.

It became the central subject of our work.
